Beach Water Quality Update – 06/16/20: As of today, 172 beaches are open along the Jersey Shore, and 41 beaches are yet to open for the season. The beach by Reese Ave (OC0023, Lavalette Borough, Ocean County) has been temporarily closed due to construction. Currently, there are no water quality advisories/closures, and CCMP data shows that all beaches meet the recreational water quality standard of <104 CFU/100ml of enterococcus. In addition, aerial surveillance reports along the shoreline and llakes, including Northwestern NJ, showed good beach and water quality conditions.

As a continuation of our updates on Beachwood Beach West (OC0116, Beachwood Boro, Ocean County), further sampling showed that enterococcus concentrations rose as high as 810 CFU/100ml on 06/12/20 before dropping to 60 CFU/100ml on 06/15/20. The latter of these readings is below the recreational water quality standard of 104 CFU/100ml. A more detailed description of Beachwood Beach West enterococcus concentrations since 06/10/20 can be seen in this graph.

Finally, as a follow-up to our updates on the conditions in Loch Arbor Village, the two breaks on the force main near Page Avenue in Deal and Loch Arbor have been repaired. A dye test conducted by the Township of Ocean Sewer Authority revealed no discharge into Deal Lake, and CCMP results at this location also confirms water quality meeting the recreational criteria. As such, Cedar Beach, 7th Ave Beach, and Village Beach Club are now open.
